What’s next for Disney and Pixar?

If you or your kids all are all about some Disney/Pixar movies, then you should look through this Disney press release. It covers all of the Disney Animation AND Pixar animation projects coming up over the next couple of years.

It looks like all of the remaining Pixar movies (besides Wall-E coming out this summer) will be 3-D. And if you haven't seen the new 3-D movies that are coming out, they're unbelievable. My friend and I saw U2-3D and we were blown away by the sharpness and clarity of it. I can only imagine how good "Toy Story 3" will look.

By the way, they're about to open up a new attraction down at Walt Disney World called "Toy Story Mania." My nephew Cooper is gonna lose his mind. You see above a picture of one of the Imagineers working on Mr. Potato Head. Here's the actual press release from Disney:

TOY STORY MANIA OPENING DATE: Currently late May 2008

"Calling all Passholders! You're invited to be among the first to experience Toy Story Mania! at Disney's Hollywood Studios™ during a sneak peek Passholder preview taking place Saturday, May 10 through Monday, May 12, 2008 from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

If you haven't heard, Toy Story Mania! is the all-new, interactive 4-D attraction inspired by Disney•Pixar's "Toy Story" films. During the experience, grab special glasses, board a ride vehicle and zip off into a 4-D world of midway-style games, hosted by favorite characters like Woody, Buzz, Rex and Hamm! Take aim using your spring-action shooter – launch virtual darts at balloons, rings at aliens, eggs at barnyard targets and more – to rack up points and compete for the high score! It's never the same experience twice so you'll want to try it again and again!

I’m going to Florida, again.

Yep, I'll be out until Wednesday of next week. So the blog will be silent. We're going to see "the Larry" (my Dad) in Tampa. And yes, we'll be making our way over to the Magic Kingdom on Monday.

So have a great weekend. And by the way, here's a interesting read about the state of Disney's next technological breakthrough when you're visiting the parks. This would certainly make FastPass much easier.

Disney Idol?

American Idol…for tourists? I ain't gonna lie. I think it's awesome.

Here's more Central Florida tourism related stuff. Have you heard about Aquatica? It's a brand new state-of-the-art water park opening up next to Sea World March the 1st? Looks awesome. Sort of imagine a cross between an aquarium and a water flume. And if you ever watched Jaws 3D, here's a great read on the history of Sea World and how the new water park might fit in.

And for some really crazy rumors, check out this read about a possible "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad" movie? Not only that, it talks about what a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie might look like? And what's on page 47, anyway?

Behold…the new monorail!

If you know me at all, you know that I have an unhealthy fascination of the monorail. I had the distinct pleasure of working on the monorail at Walt Disney World during one of my college summers. And while I didn't necessarily enjoy the polyester pants in the sweltering heat of Central Florida, I wouldn't trade that experience for the world.

As you can see from the pic, they've just recently introduced a brand new version of the monorail at Disneyland in California. It's the first of three monorails that will go online in February 2008.  Looks like they're going with the  "future that never was" look. Sort of retro. Sort of futuristic. I like it. Here's more pics.
